The 26th of January is the day Captain Arthur Philip invaded the Sydney shore as the supreme commander of the First Fleet. This day commemorates the day people in power decided to decide the fate of our beautiful country that was already home to over 500,000 indigenous people for at least 50,000 years. These people in power claimed the land as their own, taking it from it's rightful owners.

I'm Australian, and I love the fact that we are people of multicultural background - It's the best thing about this country, and I think we should celebrate it instead of having European fledglings claim the land as their own. We should be acknowledging and recognising our indigenous community and we don't. This is a day we should mourn, not celebrate. I believe we should alter the date of Australia Day otherwise we are truly just white supremacists who think we have power over indigenous people

Edit: I would love change my view, even though I can see I'm getting a lot of awards, the purpose of this post is for me to be manoeuvred into a different perspective, so please leave a comment with your view on the matter.
