How do I stop being an immortal wizard?

So this one is a throwback/idea that I had but never got around to.
It all started back in my world with angels and demons, and my curiosity about how things are with other races in a world with a counterculture.
I initially wanted to work on an anti-vampire story, but then my brain decided it wanted to go a different route and work with wizards until angels and demons came to mind again.
So, with this world we are going for a twist on the angel/demon anti-culture setup.
We are going to take everything from the demon counterculture and apply it to angels.
This means that our angels will be seen as monsters by society.
But we are going to take it a step further than that with the angels.
We are going to make them evil and twisted creatures who are full of the power of the gods.
So our protagonist for this one is a wizard.
He's an immortal one who is over 500 years old.
And he's fed up with magic.
He's realized that he's never going to be able to find a way to end his life.
So he wants to live life as a mortal.
He's going to drop magic and live as a mortal would.
He's going to abandon his current life and start fresh.
Along the way he will find out that it isn't easy being a mortal, especially with the angels around.
So, at this point we have a lot to setup for this story.
We need to establish the world as it is with the angels and their powers.
Then we need to understand the life that the wizard has lived so far as an immortal being.
We need to explore/establish his history as well as his powers.
I want to explore the idea of our protagonist abusing his magic to have fun with life.
As an immortal, he will only be as good as the lessons he learns over the years.
I would say that he's a more mature immortal, but with some of the world he lives in, I feel like this could end up being a coming of age story.
You see, with magic at his fingertips, he's never had the need to learn how to live like a mortal.
He's never had to work a job, pick up groceries, or even go to school.
There's a twist for us, we are going to make him a graded wizard.
This means that every time he uses magic in a certain way, he gains experience points along with some other stats.
This will help us establish his skills as a wizard over the years.
I also feel like it will help to understand the world better as well as his history with magic at his fingertips.
But the world is changing as well as he is.
It's advancing into modern technology and he's not sure how he fits into it at this point.
As a wizard, he's never really needed to use technology.
So, we will need to have him learn the basics of a modern mortal as well as learn the basics of graded magic too.
But as much as this is about our protagonist's life, it's also about the life of the world around him.
I think that's why I initially wanted to introduce us to the modern world and contrast it to the world of our protagonist.
To give us a good look at the world as the protagonist sees it, and as the reader sees it.
It makes sense that there are as many wizards in the world as there are mortals.
So, we only really see the world as it is from our protagonist's point of view and the people around him.
The world of angels, the world of mortals, and the world of wizards.
And as our protagonist explores his newfound love for being mortal, he will also be exploring the world itself.
Now let's get back to the angels, because I feel like they haven't gotten as much attention as I would like.
So, let's do a few things about that.
First, we need to establish why angels are viewed as monsters.
I think that there should be a massive event in history that led to the angels being shunned by society.
I would say that at one point, angels were viewed as superior beings to humans.
They had magic, powers, and other gifts that made them stand out.
But there was one who abused those gifts and went against the powers of the world.
I would say that this angel was one of the original angels of the world, one who was created by the gods themselves to help establish the world.
But he went against the gods and decided to use his powers to take over the world.
So, the people of the world decided that all angels needed to be looked down on, that none of them should be trusted and none should be spared.
This angel was viewed as a god, but he was never seen.
So, the people created an image of him, an image of the angel that they were told was abusing his powers.
They gave him a name, and they made him a counterculture figure.
And from that day forward, angels were shunned by society.
They are viewed as lower than graded wizards.
And as angels, they are much worse than wizards.
They have powers beyond what we could imagine.
As mentioned, they are full of the power of the gods.
But there's more to angels than that, and there's more to the power of angels as well.
While they are viewed as evil and twisted individuals, they are also viewed as family members, as guardians.
They are tasked with watching over the world, keeping it safe from harm.
But our protagonist doesn't have much to do with angels, he's mostly ignored them.
But as a wizard, he knows that he needs to be careful.
So, let's switch to our protagonist for a bit.
Through his 500 years, he's had a lot of different lives and a lot of different houses.
But at his current house, he knows that he can't stay there anymore.
He knows that he needs to drop his current life, and he knows how he can do it.
He's going to abandon this life, all of it.
He's going to leave behind the things that he bought, the things that he's earned.
He's going to make sure he has no attachments to his life as a wizard.
And then he'll drop all of it.
He'll go to the council and ask them to wipe his memories and erase his magic.
And then he'll disappear forever.
At least, that's his plan.
But it's not that easy, and our protagonist knows that.
Over the years he has built up a reputation, he's made himself known.
He's mostly been a loner, but he knows he can't just erase the life he's lived.
So, we need to understand more of his life as a wizard, more of who he is.
I would say that he's a powerful wizard with no attachments to anything.
He's known as a demonologist, a wizard who specializes in summoning and controlling demons.
But something is missing, something that is needed to understand who he fully is.
I would say that he's abusive towards magic.
So, he's honestly broken a few rules of the wizarding world.
He's used magic for his own gain, and as an immortal, he's had enough time to get into a lot of trouble for it.
I would say that early on, he used magic to rob banks and twist the minds of the guards.
So, he's not as innocent as he seems, and he's not as innocent as we want him to be.
But there's more to him as well.
He's worn many different faces over the years.
As a wizard, he's looked for adventure, looked for someone to challenge him and help him grow.
And that's exactly what he found when he grew bored.
He became a mercenary, someone who takes on jobs for the right price.
But that isn't all he's done.
Let's try for a few other things.
I would say that he worked as an executioner for the council, someone who takes care of wizards who have broken the rules.
But he's not just killed wizards, he's also killed angels.
So, we are left with a lot of questions, a lot of questions that we need answers to.
What is the council's view on angels?
Do they have any rules about killing angels?
And what is the punishment for angels who have broken the rules?
All of these questions lead to even more questions, and it's something that we should work on answering.
But, back to our world with angels and demons.
So, angels are counted as monsters by society, viewed as being evil and twisted.
But what about demons?
In this world, demons are viewed as the opposite.
They are viewed as angels, as guardians who are full of the power of the gods.
But they are also viewed as being very different from angels, as being the opposite as well.
They are viewed as being graded, as being worn down by something.
I would say that they have a curse placed upon them, a curse that eats at the power of the gods within them.
And that makes sense.
Our world needs a way to keep things balanced, and that's the job of the demons.
While angels are twisting the world, demons are the ones who correct that.
In contrast to the graded magic system, angels and demons have a different system.
I would say that they have a leveling system.
Let's say that angels have levels between 0 and 100, and demons have levels between 0 and 10.
This would make sense as well.
Angels are full of the power of the gods, while demons are worn down by something.
But they are also very different.
I would say that angels are at their weakest when they are level 0, and they only grow stronger as they level up.
Let's say that maxing out as a level 100 angel makes them as strong as the gods themselves.
While demons are the complete opposite.
They are at their strongest when
