First time I ever got a good response from an anti-Semite

I’ve been an active member of this sub for well over a year, and I like to think that I’m as well read on Middle Eastern history and contemporary culture as anyone with a real life should be. I’ve been able to maintain my sanity by avoiding anti-Semitic outlets, as I’m so busy with work and I don’t want to give the time out of my day to idiots.

I was forced to engage with an anti-Semite for the first time in my life recently, and it was **EXTREMELY** gratifying. The person I was forced to engage with was one of my TA’s from my American History class. I’ve been aware of his strong anti-Zionist views throughout the semester, although the topic itself was barely touched on throughout the course. I had to do a final presentation with him, and while normally I would have enjoyed doing so, I knew that it wasn’t going to be fun with him.

He brought up how “Palestinians got FUCKED by the UN.” I responded with how the UN made sure that the Arabs got their fair share of land. My TA disagreed and said that it was “unfair because the Jews were the minority in Palestine and the UN still made them an independent state.” I responded saying that the Jews were the majority where the mandate was drawn, and the UN made sure that the state would be majority Jewish. He disagreed so strongly with my comment, although I proved it by showing him a map of the mandate, as well as statistics showing that there was almost a 50:50 ratio of Jews and Arabs, with a slight minority being Arab.

Next, he said how “the Zionists fucked the Palestinians by bribing them and taking their land.” I showed him how there were Arab riots before the 1917 Balfour Declaration, and how the mere mention of a Jewish homeland somehow gave the Arabs a reason to kill Jews. I showed him how the institutes of higher education and the Jewish immigrants in general made the economy better off and helped the Arabs, yet they rioted at every opportunity they had and tried to kill us. I told him how the Haganah was formed to protect Jewish people because the British were unwilling or unable to. I told him how the UN repeatedly condemned the Arab attempts to completely annihilate the Jewish people in Palestine. I asked him if he had ANY facts to support his claims of the Jews trying to kick the Arabs out, and he said that it was a “fact” and I was being “brainwashed.”

Finally, he asked me about the USA giving Israel so much aid. I told him how the Middle East, especially Palestine, takes up more than 50% of the UN’s time and resources, and how the USA gives us money to pay for our defense as well as the UN funds. I also told him how Egypt and Jordan get more than twice the amount of aid we do. He seemed extremely angry and speechless at all of my responses, and was honestly flustered that I had such good responses to his claims about Israel.

It felt really good to have an anti-Semitic person be speechless when I gave them facts completely contradicting their claims. Tell me some of your funniest experiences in the comments below :)
