CMV: Even if beer is your beverage of choice, you must accept responsibility for the effects of your consumption of alcohol and do so without any expectation of sympathy or special treatment.

Beer is and continues to be a societal problem. Not only do an appreciable number of beer drinkers become alcoholics, but even beer consumed in moderation leads to the degradation of personality and character. Moreover, schools devoted to the study of beer are a waste of money and societal resources.

Furthermore, it's ridiculous to think that beer drinking is "not your fault." Why would you expect anyone to sympathize with you if you have a beer habit? You make choices every time you buy beer and every time you consume beer. Upon drinking beer, you make the choice to open yourself to its effects. The effects of beer consumption may be problematic, but it's the beer drinker alone who is responsible for allowing the volitile and malicious drug to take affect on their bodies and brains. Most certainly there exists an appreciable number of stories of people who have suffered severe health consequences as a result of beer drinking. These people are not victims of anything but their own character, and in no way should they expect sympathy for their suffering.

Now I guess someone will tell me:

"Beer can be useful for learning in school! And it has widespread applications in STEM!"

Absolutely irrelevant, as there is no need for beer in any of these applications. In fact, there are many educational non-beer resources available for all topics. Beer is only used in school because universities are run on a shoe-string budget and cannot afford to devote an entire campus to the study of beer.

"Beer is ingrained in our culture in countless ways! Many time-honored traditions surrounding beer have been passed down for generations!"

The traditions you describe are in fact an indication of the degenerative influence of beer. The more polite and respectful and interesting and morally resilient and non-degenerate a group of people are, the less beer they drink.

"Beer provides an enjoyable social opportunity for beer drinkers to bond with each other over their shared interest in beer!"

Anything beer drinkers do, they could do without drinking beer. People capable of forming bonds with each other while drinking beer are also capable of forming bonds with each other without drinking beer. That's not at all what this post is about, however. You beer people can keep on drinking punch, but at the very least you must accept the fact that you bear personal responsibility for the effects of beer consumption.

EDIT: To the people responding as if I'm being completely serious: of course I'm fucking trolling. God I can't imagine the intellecutal fortitude required to be an alcoholic in recovery and still take this post seriously.
