I recently had a friend, the victim of a recent car break in. This break in was attributed to a fob hacking attack. We tested and found that you can prevent the fob hacking by double locking the car and preventing the car from sending the signal on the unsecured band. My car is a 2008 Mercedes C class, so your car model may be different. After you unlock your car, and continue to leave it unlocked, the car automatically unlocks your car at regular intervals. This is so you can open the door and enter the car, it won’t stay locked. To prevent this, you must lock the car using the button on the door. Once you do this, the car will continue to be locked for a while longer. It is during this time you can lock the car using the fob at which point the car no longer sends and receives unauthenticated pulses.
