Man said he was going to rape and kill me. 6 months later I saw him on the news.

When I was 18, I helped a friend move into an apartment. We were sitting on the porch drinking a beer and shooting the shit. There was a man who was sitting across from us, and I thought he was just sitting on his own porch, but I later found out he was just a random dude off the street who had joined us. Anyways, I'm just a young girl and naive, and was a very trusting person. This guy starts talking to us and telling us all about where he's been in the country, how he's from Oklahoma and a whole bunch of random shit. At this point, my friend said, "Well, it was nice talking to you..." and we both stood up. We grabbed the last of the boxes and put them in the apartment. Right before I shut the door, the guy says, "Wait, what is your name?" Again being naive, I tell him. He immediately responds with, "Well, nice meeting you (my name), I'm gonna come rape you and kill you tonight." And then I shut the door and started to panic. <br>I told my friend and we didn't know what to do. I was scared to go home and so my friend let me stay the night. I never told the police, not sure why. I just remember being terrified. Then about a month or two later, I saw him walking in the neighborhood and freaked out. Then 6 months later, this dude is on the news for breaking into random houses and tying women up with duct tape at gun point. I freaked out. What if that was me? I then moved out of my house and moved far away. I've never forgotten that day, and I don't know if I ever will. And honestly, that day changed my life. I'm 39 now and I'm more protective of myself. But I'll never forget when a man said, "I'll be back for you."
