I remember one of the funniest weddings I went to was one where they had a wishing well which the bride and groom would take home and crack it open and count the money and so on and so forth.

It was for my Bar Mitzvah and nobody really give gifts of money (except one man called Steve who gave me a twenty) but I had the wishing well. I had about ten or twenty quid in it.

So the night of the Bar Mitzvah, I spent most of it talking to my friends and family. We were allowed to sit outside around the hog and the photo booth, which I didn’t really use.

What I did do though was steal money from the wishing well. I would crack it open and then hide it to give the impression that we’d been robbed.

I remember being terrified as to what I’d done, so the next day I came clean and my parents were not happy. But then comes my best mates dad. He has a wry smile on his face and he returns twenty pounds to my parents.

He said “I could see you wanted to know how much you have in the wishing well, it’s only money.”

I can’t believe he let me off the hook, but that is why I love my family and my friends so much, they know that I’m not a thief.

Except the man who gave me twenty at my Bar Mitzvah, could be wrong but I’m looking at you Steve as a paedophile.
