i stole hair from the shower floor

I feel disgusting typing this right now but i’m a 17 year old girl and yesterday was my first day at a new gym, its a really strictly clean gym and im super happy to be a member there. i feel disgusting right now and want to die. they have massive floor mirrors in the showers, and im a hair enthusiast. I love to micro macrame hair, my hair has never been cut in my entire life and is something i take great pride in. i just wanted to collect some hair to put hair falls on. i started collecting massive amounts of hair from the shower floor and put it in a grocery bag. it was so much hair, i was filling this bag full of hair for 20 minutes, and it was totally full when i left. i was super excited to go home and sort the hair. i weighed it at home and it was 3lbs. i felt happy knowing that i now get to make 3lbs worth of hair extensions/ decoration. when i went to the gym today, 2 management staff pulled me aside and sat me down. they asked me why i was picking up the hair, they saw me doing it on the camera. they said that they have multiple members complain that the showers were disgusting, and that they’re going to have to pay their staff to sort through the hair i picked up just incase i mixed it with my own hair. i told them that it was for a project at school and they said that it was completely inappropriate and that i cant use the showers anymore, strictly the restrooms. i am so embarrassed and being treated like a creep has made me feel horrible. im sad to not be able to use the showers, they’re really nice. now i just have to bathe at home in my tiny shower with poor water pressure and cold water. they didnt kick me out, but they seemed really angry with me. i just wanna die right now.
