AI chatbot ChatGPT temporarily blocked in Italy over privacy concerns

Italy’s data protection authority said it would temporarily block the AI chatbot ChatGPT in the country because of privacy concerns.<br><br>The watchdog said it had opened an investigation in the platform following a data breach that exposed personal details of users.<br><br>It also took issue with OpenAI’s use of ChatGPT data for advertising.<br><br>OpenAI, which runs ChatGPT, said it was working on being allowed to operate in the country again.<br><br>The Italian watchdog said that OpenAI stored all conversations between human users and ChatGPT, effectively collecting “massive amounts of personal data".<br><br>OpenAI was given 20 days to respond to the authority’s concerns, the Italian data protection authority said.<br><br>It also called on OpenAI to provide users with information about how their data is being used, including whether it is being sold.<br><br>It’s the first time that ChatGPT has been blocked in any country.
