Cloaks are better than jackets and we should start using them again

Cloaks are (or at least can be) cheap. They require less material than an entire set of trousers and a shirt. A rain cloak is a lot cheaper and far more practical than waterproof pant/upper body combos. They're far easier to make than a tailored jacket, and don't have to worry about all the extra stitching on the seems.

They're far more practical than any jacket. It keeps your entire core warm and dry, it's far easier to move your arms than it is with a coat, and if you're sitting down it's not in the way in the same fashion.

I want to buy a rain cloak but I'm not quite ready to break social norms on this one.

EDIT: Wow, this blew up. I'd like to clarify that I'm not suggesting we go all in on the lord of the rings style cloaks.
What I'm suggesting is more along the lines of what Ubisoft showed in their combat trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. What the more modern cloaks are. A (possibly) waterproofed leather or canvas or wool or whatever dressing that can keep out the elements, that has a discreete fastening.
