In 1972 the United States allowed the Saudi Royal Family to fund the creation of a marine base in Quantico. The purpose was to train the Saudi Marine Corps alongside a new weapon. In the 80s police began to get body armor so in 1986 America created the “100% cop killer” or the 5.7x28mm.

The purpose of the 5.7 is to penetrate low level body armor. Specifically 2nd generation kevlar, the most common body armor in the 80s. Because the 5.7 is a FIVE point SEVEN, you can conceal carry it and still have all your rights without being a “terrorist”

Let me explain - when the 5.7 was created the NFA and 68 GCA were already in effect. The 86 FOPA banned everything bigger than pistol calibers and all new registrations under title 2. However it also banned registration for concealable weapon > .44 calibers. The 5.7 exceeded this, but was not considered a problem because of its small size.

Armalite, then owned by Colt, released the P90 on the civilian market as 16” carbine. Suddenly the American people had access to a 100% cop killer on the civilian market.

The media went insane. They screamed that Americans were too violent and now we had a gun too powerful. Suddenly the American people were terrorists for simply wanting the option to defend themselves.

This media frenzy ended the assault weapons ban of 94 in 2004. The American people were able to tell the government that the media was wrong and that we should have access to high capacity magazines.
