If democracy fulfills the desire for immortality then would we lose the need to be immortal if we have a functioning democracy?

Many Immortalists have said that if we had the means to live forever then we would live forever. But many have also spoken to the fact that becoming an immortal being is a means to transcend finite existence and become infinite, ultimately to transcend the need for democracy and existence and live a life outside of humanity.

Is Democracy just a means to transcend finite existence?

tldr; Many believe that a functioning democracy is a pathway to immortality for humanity, but Immortalism is a means to transcend finite existence and democracy.

Edit: Many have mentioned science, access to science, and science being the pathway to immortality; I agree with this notion. I am trying to compare democracy as a fulfuillment for immortality to the concept of science as a fulfillment for immortality.
