I generally don't do politics here but this seems relevant today. The decision to invade Iraq in 2003 has been a bigger disaster for the world than the decision this week for Russia to invade Ukraine.

Your task is not to convince me that one is worse this the other, but that they are comparably bad. You need to show me a major problem with the invasion of Iraq that is not as bad with the invasion of Ukraine, or vice-versa.

Some problems this war has caused that are worse than the invasion of Ukraine so-far include:

* The instability of the Middle East. Remember 'shock and awe'? this war didn't just destabilise Iraq, but the surrounding region too. It was this war that caused ISIS to become powerful in the region, and there was civil war in Iraq for this entire decade. Libya's government collapsed with the death of Gaddafi, and ISIS linked groups were fighting in Syria.
* The displacement of Iraqi residents. Far more Iraqis have been displaced from their homes than the number of Ukrainian residents displaced from theirs. Some Iraqis became refugees in the UK or other countries.
* More soldiers lost their lives to IEDs than to Russian artillery
* The war led to more social and economic instability. Iraq's top news was bombs exploding in major cities for years after the end of the war, whereas Ukraine was relatively stable between the end of this war and the start of the new one.

These are just my opinions, I am happy to revise any if you can convince me that they are wrong, but my general conclusion from this is that the invasion of Iraq has been a bigger disaster than the invasion of Ukraine.

Edit: Removed the rule that Ukraine had to be comparable in one way, and Iraq only worse in others. You can convince me that Ukraine is worse in some ways and Iraq only comparably bad.
