EDIT: This took me an hour to write, but I doubt I can respond to every comment. Try to find a way to change my view because I really don't want to think like this. Also the idea of Civil War might be treated as a joke, but it is a serious issue and not something that can be taken lightly. It just leads to a dark future and I really don't want that.

It all started in 2013. The Supreme Court ruled that a key component of the Voting Rights Act was unconstitutional, allowing states to change their voting laws without needing federal go ahead. Within hours, Texas enacted a strict voter ID law that disproportionately affected minority communities. This, combined with gerrymandering, has stripped voting power from minorities and allowed for politicians to only cater to their own political party, rather than the people.

This all cumulated into the 2016 election, when a candidate that was supported by white nationalists was elected into office. For the first time in history, a major party candidate called his opponent a crook, said that he wouldn't respect the results of the election, and said that his opponent should be put in jail. In fact, he only changed his mind AFTER he was elected. The Democratic party was more divided than ever before, as both parties split between people that want to continue the status quo, and those that wanted a revolution. In this case, the status quo lost and many people were left wondering "What the hell just happened."

This defined the next four years of his presidency, with him using every trick in the book to not get re-elected. He used lies, propaganda, and racism to not lose re-election. He did everything except campaign, which ultimately didn't matter because the Democrats had a candidate that was the opposite of his own base. Ultimately, this meant that the election was defined by the extremes. On one hand, there is a candidate that has been calling for a civil war, and on the other, we have a candidate that promised that the radical right would be put in their place. In reality, we all know what will happen. The Democrats will lose the Senate and the Republicans will keep the Senate, House, and Presidency. The President will pass even more laws, including laws that will allow him to continue his rule indefinitely. This will cause a civil war, with the radical right fighting against the radical left.

This will not end well. There will be lots of bloodshed and a divided nation cannot survive in the modern world. If anyone lives in a country with a civil war, they will know that it isn't good. A civil war is the sign of a failing state and if we want to continue to be a world power, we need to get our act together. The only way for that to happen is for people to put their differences aside and work together. Right now, I am not so sure that will happen.

Also, PLEASE don't post if you aren't going to try to change my view. I can already guess what people in the comments are going to say. I just want people to try and change my view.
