Question about fire and smoke on other planets.

I'm worldbuilding a story about a moon with a thick atmosphere by moon standards. I've set its atmosphere to be about half of that of Earth, with its gravity being about a fifth. With a thick atmosphere, it has weather, and a few years ago the planet was devastated by solar flares which caused a mass fire that covered about three quarters of the planet. The events are shrouded in mystery since the planet's survivors were wiped out about 300 years ago in an event known as "The Great Collapse".

My question is this:

If the flares caused a fire to occur on the main continent, where would the smoke go? On Earth, I imagine the seabed or the poles, but since the moon has no oceans and mild winters, where would the particles go to? Would they settle on landmasses or just float perpetually in the sky?
