According to a spate of outage reports on Sunday afternoon, three of the world's biggest social media platforms are currently down. It's unclear what's causing the issue, but it is believed to be a technical issue. Down Detector, which tracks these outages, shows that each of the platforms became unavailable shortly before 5:00 p.m. ET, with the number of reports surging to more than 50,000 for each. <br><br>Reuters is reporting that Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all down in Peru, Colombia, and Argentina. Other countries that have reported outages include Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Philippines.<br><br>Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all owned by Facebook, which is based in California. In a statement, a spokesperson for the company, said “we’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
