CMV: Voting should not be COMPULSORY, however, those who do vote should receive a modest payment on their taxes.

Hello my friend.

At the risk of sounding controversial and at a slight loss of points, I've walked into politics on Reddit.

I don't care if you vote, and I don't think it should be required; it's your vote after all, and I don't see the logic in forcing everyone to vote, as I think that would be misrepresentative and lead to rage voting.

HOWEVER, if you do happen to vote, I see a strong social issue potential.

I think it's literally within our technological capabilities, for those who DO vote, to pay a modest tax deduction. That is to say, if you submit a vote, on your paycheck you get £5/€5/$5 added to your pay after tax.

The benefits of this are made obvious on page three of Google. People are paid more for voting, thus, more people vote, thus on a happy day, democracy is boosted with people having a stronger voice.

It also serves as an incentive to support democracy and your nation with your vote, which I think is a much better way of doing things than being forced.

This also gives a strong voice to those who need it most, lower income, who tend to let voting go by the wayside, as they are more focused on survival.

This lets demographically challenged voices be heard, in an unequal world of democracy, where richer voices are automatically louder.
