Two for the price of one

How many times have you looked at a Reddit post and thought "I love this idea, wish I could write that", and then the next time you looked at it it had like 50 replies and was locked down? In other words how many of you would participate in a simple writing exercise?

The idea is, two people agree to write a story (any length, style, theme, whatever, just fiction) **with the same writing prompt**. The first person writes and submits their story to the other person, and then person #2 writes their story and posts **both** of them to a subreddit they both agree on with a link to the other person.

So why two for the price of one? Because I don't guarantee that you'll always get a pair to write with, but most of the time you will. So you'll get to see how they interpret **your** writing prompt, and how you can influence the writing of others where you may not have much chance of getting your voice heard against the most popular writers on the site.

If you're interested, reply to this post with a few things about yourself; what kind of writing you want to do, what kind of writing you enjoy reading, details about where you want them to be posted, and most importantly a short paragraph of storytelling that you've written about absolutely anything that you feel best exemplifies your writing style.

How do you know if you found someone to write with? Because I'll tell you, and I'll send you the contact information of the other person so you two can communicate.

Only a few ground rules to follow: **you must write the story yourself**. There's nothing wrong with asking for input from friends, family, teachers, etc... but you don't go and copy someone else's story. You can ask to see the other person's story before you post if you're paranoid, but the pair of you will agree on a timeframe in which you both are comfortable to post so don't worry **too** much about being plagiarismed. Your part in the arrangement is just to send me your paragraph of writing and let me know what you're interested in, we'll work out the rest.

The only restriction to writing style is that it has to be fiction; there's still no restriction to subject matter so you can submit your porn stories if you want to.

The only restriction to the prompt is that it can't be centered around a character - that is something like "Bob goes to the bar". Otherwise, anything goes.

The only restriction to the subreddit is that it has to be one that allows you to make multiple submissions with a single post, and that you agree with the other person that you'll post to that subreddit.

If you want to go anonymous with your writing, that's fine. You'll be responsible for handling any fees from the writing, but where and how to submit that isn't my problem.

Oh, and finally, this is just me. I'm a cybersecurity student at university trying to cut my teeth on some simple networking and web development projects, so while I do all the security I can to protect your information I'm just one person and I don't really have the time or effort to devote to something massive. Especially since I expect this project to be around long after I graduate, so I may have to find someone to take over for me at that point.

I wrote a quick program to help me work through pairings, so even though I'm not actively an author myself I can still help facilitate pairings. Contact me at [froghampoo at gmail](mailto:[email protected]) with the above information, and if you have any questions ask away.

PS; if you have a cool idea and don't want to do the writing yourself, or if you enjoy giving prompts for some reason, don't worry. I have a list of people that just like writing and want prompts, and will also get the prompt from you if I can't find a writing partner to match with you.

Edit: I have a partner for myself, and a partner for three other people. I'll have links posted up on a short website once the pairs have finalized pairings and completed submissions. This was a good first run, and I can do this is a bigger scale if there's enough interest. So keep the requests coming and nudge your friends about it ok?
