So it was my birthday couple months ago. Had a party. Got some gifts. My friend "Mandy" for me a "super cute bikini" as she described it. It was actually just a piece of olive green cotton fabric with some string attached. I didn't get what was so "cute" about it. I just laughed and thanked her.

She insisted I show it off. So I went in my room, put it on, and showed it off. Immediately, all the girls at the party started staring at me (I didn't really notice at first). Mandy started saying "oh my god, you're actually wearing it?". Immediately the girls started telling me to take it off. I was like "what". They were all staring at me and some even took pictures. I started feeling embarrassed and took it off.

Mandy insisted on taking the picture of me in the bikini and posted it on her story saying "she actually wore it?". I asked her to remove it because it was embarrassing but she kept saying it was innocent and that it was "just a joke".

About a week later, we all went to the beach. Mandy was shocked when I showed up in the green bikini. Before I got a chance to actually walk towards the water, she came to me and said "wow, you're actually wearing it?". Some other girls started staring at me, snickering, and taking pictures. I told her to stop because I didn't bring any other swimsuit but she insisted I change because "some guys were there and it was inappropriate".

I got tired and just walked away towards the water like Screw all y'all. I could hear the girls gasping and whispering as I walked away but I didn't care. When we got back home, I got about 5 texts from some of the girls asking me "why I wore that bikini" when they saw the post on Mandy's story.

Mandy called me the next day telling me she was "disappointed" in me for "wearing such a thing in public". I asked her why she bought it for me if she was going to humiliate me for wearing it. She said she was "just poking fun at me" by giving me a "slutty bikini" as a gift. I told her THAT'S EXACTLY why I wore it; because it was a gift.

Now, literally every girl in my friend circle is talking about how I wore it. I think it's unfair to me because they were the ones telling me to model it.

Edit: I should probably mention I live in a Middle Eastern country where people dress conservatively.
