Hi Everyone, I thought you all might find this story interesting.

Ten years ago my then Wife wanted a gun. I told her guns were bad and we shouldn't have one. I convinced her we didn't need it and proved to her we can protect ourselves with other things. She got over the idea and we moved on.

I received a call from my Ex Wife one day **asking if I would be home from work late or not. I asked " **are you coming over for something if I'm not around?"**. She told me **"no, I just plan on committing a mass shooting there."**

She then told me she has a job interview a few towns over, but while driving through our town she thought about the idea I had shot and killed myself and our two boys, so she decided to just shoot everyone. She felt that if I was at home, then I must be guilty of doing what she was accusing me of..... so I told her I would be working late. She told me she was going to go shop for guns.

I panicked and didn't know what to do. I was at work, and I didn't want her coming to the house and finding out I lied to her. I didn't want to go there because she would kill me. I knew she was a close friend of hers would somehow help her even if I called the cops, because my Ex is known for manipulating people to do what she wants, and I had a feeling they wouldn't believe me.... so this left my Mother and Father.

I was still on the phone with my Ex and I told her she should cancel her plans of doing what she wanted to do, and on the call with one hand, I texted my Mother to call the cops. I told my Ex to wait for a moment so I can step away from the desk for a minute. She told me she would wait. I stepped away from my desk for a moment and less than a minute my Mom got back with me. She said she had the cops on the other line and they wanted me to get off the phone. So I went back to my desk, got back on the phone, and told my Ex it was time to call it a day.

I explained to the cops what had happened and they told me they would be by my Ex's house in "5, 10, 15 minutes". I asked how long it would actually take and they said it would be more like 30 minutes to an hour before they could get there. I tried to tell them she wanted to purchase guns and commit a mass shooting and they said it would be more like an hour or two. I tried to argue with them I felt her threat was serious and they still told me it would be more like an hour or two until they got there. I knew my Mother had called 911 because I told her to, so I figured they would have gotten someone there right away since they were told someones life was in danger. I then tried to explain to the cops that 911 was called and they said they can't get there sooner than two hours. As long as they said they were gonna get there and help my Ex, I just hung up.

I was a basket case. I didn't know what to do, so I started calling other cops in different towns. I told all of them I was worried about my Ex, because she had just threatened to commit a mass shooting. They ALL told me it would take 1-2 hours to get there.

I gave up on calling the police. I was at work, I was Hundreds of miles away, and I knew **my boys were at home alone on the weekend with nobody to protect them**. I even called my Brother who was only two towns over and he said he was Hundreds of miles away as well. I thought about my Father at work, but I figured he wouldn't believe me. I knew he thought my Ex was "the most perfect woman in the world" and I knew he wouldn't believe me that she was a threat. Explaining this to the Cops wasn't working to get help, so before I got my Dad fired from his job I decided to just not call him. I knew they would end up talking about it and ruin their day at work.

By that time an hour had passed, and I started to worried it had already happened. So I called my Ex. I acted like I had no idea what had happened. I asked her how she was doing and if she was okay **because I thought she might have been the victim**. **She told me "I went to the gun store and the Lady working there said I should consider a smaller caliber because I'm a first time gun owner. I told her 'no, get me the biggest gun you have'."**

She said the Lady smiled, then told her "I don't think you need that, and I don't even think you should be having a gun." So my Ex said **"I'm trying to commit a mass shooting, and I need to get a gun."** She said the Lady called the Cops and stayed in the back until they got there. My Ex told me the Cops showed up a few minutes later and took away her Drivers License. She told me **the Cops asked if she could sit in the Car or go for a walk, but she said 'no, I'm going inside to work.'**

She said she walked inside and started working. She said while she was working, she thought to herself "I'm a good person **who is just being dragged into Evils hands**". After that, she said she thought it over and decided not to commit the shooting anymore. She said she no longer felt she needed to do it.

That's basically what happened. So now I'm wondering, would you trust a gun dealer to help protect your life or get you help? I never owned a gun before that, but now I own a few. I also now know if your life is in danger, you can't rely on anyone being there to save you. You have to save yourself.

tl;dr: My Ex Wife was going to randomly shoot people in my Town, and no matter where I called for help the cops said it would take up to 2 hours to get there. Luckily a gun dealer saved me and my childrens lives.
