What was the "plan" of the Allies to overcome the communists if not the atomic bomb?

This is a question that has been worrying me a lot, the Soviet Union was an industrial superpower, the war weakened the Americans and the British a lot, it gave Japan the atomic bomb, which gave them an end to the war, but, What would have happened if not? What plan did they have to overcome the communists ?.
