I stole a laptop because I wanted attention from a crush

I was 15 when I did this (I'm 17 now). She and I were in a class together where we did a lot of group projects (with her and two other people in my group). One day, her other friend forgot her laptop, so my crush jokingly asked me to switch mine out with her so we could look at notes and she’d see she’s stupid.

I figured it was a joke, but we’d had a few projects that I’d done most the work on that she’d really appreciated, so I figured I could play around a little. She didn’t even notice that I switched them, though, so I figured I’d just pretend to have lost mine and switch hers with mine later so she wouldn’t know.

2 days of us having our switched laptops went by, until I stupidly forgot my "lost" password at home and needed it to do a project on mine that I wasn’t finished with. Luckily, we do all our projects in a classroom that stays open all day, so I walked in her classroom around lunch for it.

She thought I was her laptop because I had all her files on it.

She couldn’t even figure out the password on her laptop, which was mine, had her notes and slideshow for like 3 classes.

That night I went home and switched mine back, and I thought that was it. But she came in late to a class we had together the next day because she said she had to stare at mine for 20 minutes before she figured it out. So yeah, I basically embarrassed myself in front of my crush for silly drama like that, and cried a little in class because I felt so stupid, if that helps.

Nonetheless, creepy laptop switch didn't pan out, I cried a lot twice because of that singular situation because I couldn’t handle the embarrassment of it, and I never forgot her laptop password but just used hers when we did projects together.
