Been wondering for a while now...I found out this subreddit today, first post here. This is not meant to be a post which is meant to provoke...just wondering why (sorry for my English, i dont usually speak English).

I am living in Germany, and we have a lot of problems here which many people think are part of the USA...but I think that the USA is the country where the majority of the population is struggling the most in the world which is regarded as a wealthy country.

1. Food quality is very bad in the USA: a lot of sugar, a lot of fast food, people struggle a lot with being overweight, and a lot of people are struggling to buy food. Unlike in Germany, where there is a Aldi or Lidl nearby pretty much everywhere. I never had any problems buying food

2. Rent prices and homelessness: a lot of people in the USA are homeless, or they struggle to pay rent. Although a lot of them work.. I dont know why this is the case in the USA. This is not common here in Germany.

3. Public transport: Germany is not as big as the USA, but I think that this is local infrastructure which is just maintained per city. And it is pretty good in Germany. And you can get basically everywhere...I dont know how it is in the USA. I know that the infrastructure is not as good..but I dont know how it really is.

4. Medicine: In Germany you have to pay 10€ a month, and you dont have to think about hospital bills, or huge doctor bills. We have a lot of good doctors, and good medicine. In the USA you cant get sick, because if you get sick you can be broke, which means you might not be able to pay bills anymore, and you might end up on the street.

5. Social inequality: the USA seems to be a very polarized country. Although a lot of them are americans, some seem to have a huge dislike for others...I dont know if its based on opinion, race, religion, or other things. But I dont know any thing like that in Germany.

6. Work-life-balance: Germans have a 35 hour work week, americans have a 42 hour work week. I have 30 days of paid holiday, and a 13th and 14th salary. You could live in Germany for a year with a normal job, and buy a nice car, and a nice house..but I dont know how it really is in the USA.

I know that a lot of cities / states dont have these problems (for example, New York City seems to be a nice place to live, wheras Texas seems to be very poor). But the problem is that it is so expensive to live in the good cities, that nobody can afford it. I really dont believe that the USA is a great country to live in. I dont really know a lot of things about the world, but one country that really caught my eye was Norway, where the majority of the power plants make renewable energy, and housing is relatively cheap...I think that they are leading the way to a better future. But I dont really know, because I havent been there yet.

I have to admit, that I am not really knowledgable of anything outside of Germany, but I know how it is to live here, what possibilities you have, and that it is still a wealthy country. And I believe that it is really isnt that good in the USA..what are your thoughts on this topic?

Edit: Thanks a lot for so many comments..I cant really answer anybody, but I really appreciate it..I dont really know how to answer anything at all. But it is good that I got to know how life is in the USA
