I'm Australian, have lived in LA 2 weeks and have a militia at my door, what's the deal?

Fellas, I've got 10 dudes in fatigues hanging out around my front garden, some dude just rang the door bell and shot a glances behind him to the crowd and said 'you do or you don't?' I said do what? He said 'you want to be part of this or not? It's going to be big.'
