I stole $50,000 from my bank.

When I was 17 I got a job at a large bank as a teller. (Names changed for protection of the guilty haha). My friends would often make jokes like "Oh I wonder what would happen if you slipped a $100 under the counter and took it home, you think they would ever peg it on you?" I had an idea, I was a child so my naivety got the better of me. I had no idea how banking worked or the auditors and all that crap. So one day I decided to test it out, I gave a customer $100 less than I was supposed to, and I kept the $100. I put it in a dummy envelope I made labeled "supplies" i brought it in the back where we kept unclaimed cash and locked it in a cupboard that had a combo lock. The lock was the kind you can open if you knew the combo, I was the only person who was there at the time so I knew I'd be the one opening it in the morning so I didn't write it down anywhere. I kept doing this every now and then and even got a little bolder. I eventually changed my method to giving customers short change. I'd hand them a stack of 10 $100's (1,000 total) wrapped in a paper strap and tell them to verify their cash, but Id really only give them 8 $100's and keep the other two. They always trusted me, I was well liked and I could talk for days, super outgoing person. Never once did anyone question me. I did this for 2 years. I saved $50,000 during the time I worked at the bank. I was a stupid high school student at the time and never really spent any of it, I never told anyone because I was too scared that it would get out. <br><br>3 months before my 19th birthday I quit and moved away to college. They never found my stash and I never got caught. I still use the money today (I'm 24 now). I know this is risky to post on the internet, but again, I'm 5 years out at this point and I feel like I'd know by now if I was going to get in trouble for it. It was really just a stupid thing I did as a kid and I don't think I'd do it again. SO if anyone from Bank of America is reading this, you got jacked for $50,000 for 2 years. Screw you, I earned it ;).
