I am secretly my company’s AI assistant.

I was stuck in a dead end job, but I really needed it as the salary was good. I worked at a tech company, and one of my jobs was to look after their chat software. It was an AI assistant that the company used to help their customers, answer questions etc. I was reading the logs and chat history, and I noticed the AI would occasionally say things that would seem slightly off, strange or out of character. At first I thought this was a mistake but then I noticed some people replying to the AI saying “agreed” or “thanks”.

I tried it out, and the AI would say sentences that I had written and it wouldn’t mark them as its own words or reveal that they were my words. It was a little addictive, and I started to make the AI say really weird things. Things like “My favouritecdbdbdibsjdbsj beets are purple” and then if a customer replied, I would make the AI say strange follow-ups like “I don’t like green beets though, that colour is for the soulless.”

The customers would keep talking to the AI and seemed oblivious, they would either keep replying back, or start talking to it like it was a normal person. I started to get bored of this and made the AI say “Take your shoes off and touch your toes”.

Think I was a sicko or something, but I was just bored out of my mind at work. Again, it was actually mad how customers were talking back to the AI about how important it is to stretch your toes at the end of the day, how the ground can help align your chi and how they thought the AI was calling them toe poopoo. The best was when I made the AI say something like “I personally think if I had a million dollars, I’d buy a pinball machine” and this customer was just taking the AI very seriously saying how much pinball machines cost, and how that would be a bad idea etc.

I’d really not seen or dealt with a customer before that didn’t recognise what I was doing, but this one customer responded back simply with “Noted”.

EDIT: On mobile and on a post limit, but I’ve loved reading all your comments, thanks for the laughter, and for making me feel like I’m not alone in the boredom and weirdness. I also appreciate the people that think I’m a creep, the internet can be a weird place at night.
