Arthur C. Clarke used this phrase as a title for his famous science fiction book, which I have not yet had the chance to read.

Over the past few days, I have experienced several anomalies related to the number sequence 41-42-43.

The first thing that caught my attention was a heavenly being standing on the bridge, wearing a jacket with the number 43 written on it in huge letters. Then I was struck by an unbelievable coincidence in the following sequence. I receive the call, look at the phone with the time 41:42, pick up the receiver, dial the number 43. Then I sit on the bench and witness a series of completely illogical events that remind me of the title of the book. At the end of the day, I want to check my audio record, and it is the 43rd audio note that I have to delete.

I noticed the next anomaly when I opened the fridge and the malfunctioning display showed the number 42. Then I looked at the clock. It read 22:41. I looked again after a few minutes and it read 22:43. Then I noticed that the number 42 appears in the mock-up display with the oven.

I finished the day by looking in the mirror, and after a few minutes, I noticed that the clock read 1:41. Since I was usually going to bed around 2 a.M. and I knew that there was always some unexplained noise coming from the attic at 2:43, I decided to go to bed and listen to see if I could hear anything again.

I stretched out on the bed and the clock read 2:41. Then I put a cigarette in my mouth and lit it. At 2:42, I first felt the presence of my deceased uncle, and then my cigarette butt fell into a crack in the bed, in a way that I couldn't retrieve it unless I stood up. I decided to stand up and then the clock read 2:43. I bent my back to pick up the cigarette, felt a surge of electricity, and the lights went out. The next thing I knew, I was lying on the mattress, with no signs of any smoke or fire.

The next day, I asked everyone in my household if I had come to the dinner table with them, and everyone replied that I had. But I knew that I hadn't, and I also had no recollection of having eaten the meatballs in the fridge.
