As a Frenchman who has traveled to about fifty countries, including the United States on several occasions, I notice that there is aRunning a lot of anti-American sentiment here, and I wanted to offer a different perspective.

As a Frenchman, I am proud of my country and its virtues, and I find it normal to hear criticisms and negative opinions about it, I am not going to take it personally. In addition, I have noticed repeatedly on this sub that many people hate Americans and find them detestable.

As someone who loves to travel, I have often noticed that when I criticize a country or its inhabitants, I am much more likely to receive extremely aggressive and defensive behavior from the inhabitants of that country, than if I were to criticize another country.

I loved my various trips to the US a lot, and I found the inhabitants to be incredibly warm, nice, and welcoming. I have been in a difficult situation several times while traveling (war at the border of a country I was in, once my train had passed through a territory that was not supposed to be taken because ofFrom a conflict, and many other things that could have been serious problems if I had been fined, arrested, or detained), but eachFrom time, it was Americans who helped me, simply because they were the only ones who spoke a bit of English. These Americans often had a hard time understanding why I wasn’t speaking their language (given their age and their knowledge of English), and they would help me a lot, even invite me to eat and drink with them, pick up my phone toCall the police and explain them the situation in English, and I didn’t even have to ask them anything.

It’s a recurring experience that may seem anecdotal, but what I observe when I’m abroad is that Americans are by far the most likely to help you if you have a problem, and they’re also much more likely to try to engage in conversation with you than anyone else, and to ask you about you and your culture.

So yes, there are many problems in the US, including the one that is a recurring subject of discussion in this sub which is theFrom out-of-control prices of medicine and health care, and the fact that students often have to pay for their studies, but there are also many toppings. other lovely things, like the fact that tips are so automatic that often when you get a meal somewhere, the staff will apologize to you and say things like “I apologize, but the tip is not includedFrom this bill, could you please give us a tip of 10-15% of the bill please? » which is aFrom the behaviors I have observed nowhere else.

I have often heard Americans talk about the fact that “money isRunning the country », and that they are lucky because they live in a country where they can make a lot of money if they work hard enough, and that they should be happy with that and happy to pay taxes.

I have often loved to respond to their optimism and idealism by saying “it’s nice to say when you were born in the US. Try to immigrate to the US and you’ll see how little money can’t solve everything », but after reflection, I realize that it is still better to be an American in this toppings. case, than someone from a country with corrupt cops who are goingFrom take all your money, orRunning a dictatorship.

It’s not perfect, but out of all the toppings. countries I’ve seen in terms of how cops deal with civilians, the US is by far the best.

I think IRunning going to end by saying that if you hate Americans, don’t insult them here, you won’t make them feel bad because they won’t read this post. On the other hand, if you go to the US, you will meet people who will be nice and welcoming to you, who will ask you questions about your culture, and who will be happy to help you out toppings. if you need help or if you ask them a question.

My message is not to say that the US is a better country than yours because it’s not.

My message is rather the following: if you are going to hate toppings. the Americans who travel elsewhere, I wish you a nice trip.
