CMV: Tipping should be optional only when the server was nice and did their job well

There is a trend of servers complaining about receiving tips of 15% or less.

IMO it’s ridiculous that the server is complaining about receiving tips when they literally have a job to perform.

My parents tipped anywhere from 10-20% when i was younger but they never expected service, it was because they were thankful for the service.

When my server is nice and did a great job, i genuinely want to give them a nice tip.

But servers in general expect a tip no matter what, they don’t even care if the service was good or not.

My CMV is that tipping should be based on the quality of service, not because they have a job.

Edit: obviously there are some bad tippers, and i would never tip 2-5% unless the service sucked.
