CMV: The route towards a “better” world is through careful, measured scientific progress and not mass social change.

The 20th and 21st centuries has been one of previously unimaginable societal change. We have gotten to the point where we have thrown out traditional gender roles, we have gotten rid of previously entrenched racial prejudices and have killed god.

However, this has been at massive social costs. This change has come at the cost of the utter destruction of the traditional family. Women who are now expected to work and provide in the exact manner a man is upon becoming a mother. This has lead to an explosion in the amount of broken families as a result of the weakened family structure.

Women’s lib has caused men to become less motivated in life. Men are known to generally having a higher desire to be a provider, they are also known to be more sexually aggressive, but are also more socially awkward causing them to rely on women to make the first move. When women made the first move in the past, it meant that the men felt as if they were valued. Men felt as if they had a purpose as they were able to provide. However when the women’s liberation movement occurred, women no longer needed men. Thus men have become less motivated in society, less motivated to work, to be loyal to their spouses, to try as hard as they can. Women’s lib has destroyed men as a gender.

Perhaps the most damning is the advancements we have made in terms of sexual rights and race relations. Certainly, do not get me wrong these were necessary and the prejudice that previously existed was heinous. However this has also lead to the breakdown in social cohesion. Prior to the 50’s/60’s race and sexuality didn’t really matter that much to anyone, sure there was prejudice, however, as long as the people you were around were kind, nobody really cared. Now it seems as if everyone cares about the colour of your skin, what is between your legs and who you like. Prior to these advancements there was far more unity as “difference” didn’t matter whereas now it seems as if people are gonna reach across the aisle and attack you for not being the correct colour and having the correct beliefs. This has lead to the unprecedented polarisation of people, people are almost expected to have radical beliefs, as a moderate is seen as radical in itself “You’re a right lean centrist, you’re a fascist” “you’re left leaning centrist you’re an ah hole”

Perhaps the most radical social change has been the death of god. When religious numbers where high, people upon leaving schools would instantly be swarmed by the church, thus giving their lives meaning. People were given a sense of purpose, moral guideance and a sense of meaning. People had an unshakeable belief in something, which gave people an enormous amount of strength. Now that religion is in decay, people no longer have that sense of purpose. They no longer have that meaning in life. Sure science is probably a radical improvement in knowledge and is virtually undisputed in its effectiveness, however it lacks the spirituality of religion. “You are just your brain and the world is just a bunch of meaningless particles. The universe is meaningless, nobody cares about you and what you do has absolutely no effect on anything. However, enjoy the ride” Is a far more barren view than “you are important, everyone cares about you, the world has a purpose and your life has a reason to exist.”

I am not saying we should go back, just that we should be careful and measured as the radical changes we have made have come at radical costs. This is the be all and end all.

Edit: Im getting a lot of comments like “we should’ve never changed!!!!” That is not what I have said please read it carefully.
