AITA for refusing to pay rent until my friend finds something to do with her "***filthy***" cat?

I moved in with a long-time friend about 2 months ago. My friend has a cat that she has had for several years. The cat, in addition to being extremely aggressive, is also extremely dirty. It urinates outside the litter box, often on our clothing, or our sofas, it scratches up everything it can get its hands on, including the walls where it leaves scratch marks and furballs, it knocks things over constantly, it digs through our kitchen drawers and even trash. My friend has "***tried***" to deal with the cat's behaviour many times with no success.

I was a little bit surprised when I discovered the cat was as filthy as it is, because I remember my friend from several years ago taking great care to keep her cat clean and well-behaved. But that may have just been a show.

I told my friend I would not pay rent until the cat was gone or behaved. She told me she "***can't bring herself to put the cat down and has no "***room for the cat in her parents' home, but is working on finding the cat a new home.

She told me that I was being a ***prick*** for refusing to pay rent. She desperately needs the money, since we pay significantly less than her last tenants, and if I don't start paying her, she will probably evict me. She says I obviously don't care about keeping a roof over our heads and that I am causing more problems than the cat is.
