What is a good way to speed up the process of innovation?

I’ve read that innovation is the main driver of productivity growth in an economy over the long term. The way I see it is that increases in productivity showcase a more efficient use of resources. I can understand why this would be beneficial from an economic perspective. <br><br>What are some incentives to innovation and how are they implemented in modern societies?
