The USA suicide hotline is terrible and shouldn’t be promoted.

I know a bunch of doctors and celebrities and pretty much everyone else is all for letting everyone know about the suicide hotline. I’ve called it myself. If you call them and you say you’re suicidal they immediately hang up on you and tell you to call 911. Why even let people know it then. They won’t help you. 911 will just lock you up to a psych hospital and make you stay there for a week where they won’t do anything for you and just make you sit there until they deem you safe enough to leave and then send you home with no help.<br><br>Edit: oh my wow. I wasn’t even prepared for this many upvotes. But reading through the comments I want to clarify I’m not saying every single counselor at the suicide hotline is like this. I’m saying the overall trend is and the overall process of asking for help and being sent back and forth between two places that won’t do anything to help you is stupid.
