Why men have to be the ones to make the first move

This may sound counter intuitive, since trad purists tend to claim that it's the womans job.

But in more modern dating, men tend to be the ones that initiate and take the lead because of how **women don't like rejected guys.** They don't like to put themselves out there because they don't want the possibility of rejection. Female shame is a lot stronger than male shame, and they're more terrified of the idea of being rejected.

In contrast, men tend to be desensitized to the idea of rejection or feeling shame. We've been trained to just shrug it off and move on with our lives. This is reflected in how men are more likely to start conversations and ask women out, whereas women in contrast don't like to put themselves out there in the first place.

Ultimately, it's a game of internals, because while women's shame levels are associated with external validity, men's shame levels are associated with internal validity. Women tend to fear rejection from the external, whereas men tend to fear shame from the internal.

So much for feminism I guess.
