Google Play Bans Call, SMS and Contact Blocking Apps

The ban will impact new apps released to the Play store, as well as existing ones. It’s currently set to go into effect on 9 January. The policy change was first reported by Android Police. In announcing the move, Google claimed that it would only allow third-party apps to access call and SMS data to verify two-factor authentication codes or to carry out other related functions.<br><br>However, the company will still allow some types of apps that block numbers directly, including those from carriers and operating system makers.<br><br># Edit- I get banned apps don't work , but the apps that do get updates after 9th January , 2024 are also banned. Example- the app "truecaller" is banned now, but as per new policy, even such already present apps are banned if they don't remove their SMS- call blocking functionality post 9th January,2024
