I’ve been stealing from a book store.

So I used to work at a huge chain book store when I was younger. It was a pretty good place to work. One thing that we were always expected to do though, was consistently pitch the membership cards. They were reasonably priced at around $25 for the year and you get 10% off of all of your purchases, plus a 5% bonus reward cash back at the end of the year.

The rewards cash back isn’t charged to the customer, so for example if you spent $500.00 over the course of the year, you would get around $25.00 back at the end. Now, all of these rewards are accumulated onto a card that is associated with your membership. For example, you spend $500.00 you will have around $25.00 on your rewards card.

So, when you sign up for the membership, the rewards card is immediately terminated and you can apply the money on the card onto your membership.

I was creating a new membership, except instead of terminating the rewards card, I would save them. Then, I would get around $200.00 on them and I would buy a bunch of books and stuff when I was off.

I have around 15 membership cards with all of these rewards cards. Since I left the company almost 5 years ago now, I have maybe used a total of $500.00 on anything.

They dont expire, so it’s something I’ve used over time. But it’s still not right and i’m definitely not supposed to be doing it.
