I(25m) used to give my mom(48f) a thousand dollars a month to help around the house(we live together.) She was cooking, cleaning, buying groceries, and the like, but the money I gave her was used on groceries.

We live in a 3 bedroom house together, and she recently allowed my sister(21f) and her boyfriend(23m) to move in.

I got a good raise, and had to reorganize my budget, so I cut back to 600$ a month.

She did not tolerate this well, and said I needed to give her more money since I knew she was supporting two more people. I told her I couldn’t do that as I had to cut back and I never signed an agreement saying I’d pay extra because of more people. I offered to help shopping for groceries myself but she said the money I was giving her wasn’t enough and I was calling her a freeloader.

She tried to guilt me into giving her more by saying she gave me life and would give her last penny for me so the least I can do is do the same for her. I said I don’t owe her anything just for being my mother, and if she wanted me to pay more then she should’ve thought of it before she allowed my sister and her boyfriend to move in.

She got angry and wanted me to move out and stop giving her money. I agreed to move out but still give her 600$ a month until I save up.

She tried to guilt trip me into staying saying I was leaving her to deal with my sister and her boyfriend on her own and that I’m her only son and I owe her for raising me.

She then offered to let me stay if I bring my original offer of 1,000$ a month. I told her I couldn’t afford that so I left.

She’s been calling me crying on the phone saying I’m being an asshole. Am I?
