An adult telling a kid “you’re doing nothing wrong” doesn’t help them feel any better

With the state of the world, and the fact that the next decade or so is gonna be a bit of a shit show, kids need to be prepared. I’d much rather have my parents sit me down and explain to me that the world might be fucked than just say “it’s not your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you. You did nothing wrong.” I’d rather them sit me down and explain to me that the world is fucked, and that our future is uncertain, but we’re gonna be alright, than to skirt around the issue and just tell me everything is fine when it’s not. Anything else just invalidates everything I am feeling.
