Is a Utopian World still worth creating if you have no intention of going on to write anything beyond it?

I’ve always been drawn to utopian fiction. The idea of a world with no poverty, no hunger, no suffering, and no crime is incredibly appealing. I have always been a dreamer and a believer that it’s possible.

I’m also the type of person who doesn’t like to see a book that has no redeeming value at the end of it. For example, if I’m reading a book about the apocalypse, I want the story to have some kind of message about what can be learned from it. If I’m reading a book about a dystopia, I want to have hope that it can end.

So I’m thinking, is a utopian world still worth creating if I’m never going to write another book?

The thing is, I know that my utopian world is a fantasy. I know that it could never exist. So I’m left with the question, why bother?

Is there anyone else out there that feels the same way? I’m not trying to be pessimistic, but I just feel like if it’s just going to stay that way forever, then what’s the point?
