It is legal for police to do whatever they want to suspects in the middle of the night

So, in my country (and most others too), it is illegal for police to torture suspects. This is because the government has a moral obligation to protect the rights of their citizens.<br><br>However, if you are arrested for a crime you did not commit and you are being held by police in a jail cell, then it is technically legal for the police to torture you in order to extract a confession from you. If you confess and are found to be innocent, they are not legally responsible. If you are guilty and you are found guilty, you are still legally responsible and your confession is not admissible in court.
