Do you allow your species to die out? Why or Why not?

This is inspired from an off-hand comment someone made about how they wouldn’t allow a species they created to die out because it would be sad. I feel like it’s not really discussed much. For me, it depends on why the species exists. If it was for entertainment, like a pet, a companion, or something that serves a purpose in their society, then yes they would keep it alive. However, if it was something that they consider pests or enemies, like an insect or an animal they hunt for food, then it depends on whether it’s worth the trouble.<br><br>What do you guys think?
