A question regarding the definition of life in a worldbuilding context.

This is more a thought experiment to help me understand my own world. In a world where magic is real and can be used to animate corpses, the definition of life is challenged.<br><br>A zombie, for example, is still dead but walks, feeds, talks and so forth. A golem is a rock brought back to life with magic, yet it is not truly alive. It can be killed, yet it doesn’t reproduce or eat, it doesn’t grow or change in appearance over time, it is slow to heal.<br><br>Is a zombie alive or dead? Is a golem alive or dead?
