My friend has been a roleplayer for many years. I don't really get the lore behind her characters, but we are good friends, and I enjoy her company. We roleplay together and share a house in game.

My character is human. Her character is an elf. She has played elves her whole life, and has a very strong idea of what elves are like, and how they would act. One of her traits is that she is dismissive of humans and human accomplishments.

I have noticed that this is changing. People are becoming more outspoken against depicting elves in this way. They are saying that this is racist, that elves and humans are equal, and that elves should not be allowed to judge humans. I agree that racism is bad, but I'm not sure if it's racist to have elves who don't like humans. I don't think my friend is being racist, but I want to know if I'm wrong.

There is a tendency to use fantasy to comment on the world. I think that some people are seeing this trait in elves as a commentary on the way some people view other races, and are trying to get rid of it.

My friend doesn't want to get rid of it. She likes the way elves are, and she doesn't think it's racist. She says that they are a fictional race, so the same rules as real race do not apply.

I would really like some clarification on this.
