My kids are getting too good at the “why” game

The “why” game is a fun one, and one that I’ve previously posted about in more detail. For those not familiar, it is basically where my kids will ask me to come up with a believable reason for any absurd thing they can imagine, just for the hell of it.

Recently, it has gotten out of hand. We have started to get people coming to me for these things in real life, and I’ve had to start charging. Like, I was at work today, and a coworker walked by my desk and said “Why do socks have holes in the toe? I’ve been wondering that for years.”

I was a bit taken aback at first, but I have gotten very good at thinking on the fly, so I gave him an excellent answer and he was thrilled.

Later, my boss came over and asked me what he said, then asked me the same question, and I gave her a good answer as well. She was a bit concerned that I was grooming my coworker, but I assured her that it was all innocent and professional. I mean, sure, my reputation may have taken a bit of a hit, but I assure you it was worth it.

Now, I am worried about getting found out. Like, if I get in trouble at work, I won’t be able to afford to do this for free anymore.

Does anyone have any ideas for side hustles to help me afford this? I am currently thinking maybe I could do yard work, or walk dogs. Any other ideas are welcome, especially if they pay cash.
