You're not "traveling" if you're American.

I've noticed an increasing trend of Americans using the word "traveling" to describe going on holiday.

They'll say "how often are you traveling?" "I travel for work two or three times a year" or "I travel for fun two or three times a year"

Traveling is what migrants and refugees do. It's what people have to do when they're escaping war, famine, or genocide. It's what people do when their country is destroyed by greed and you have to leave to survive.

Traveling is not something that you do for fun. It's something that you do because you have to.

I'm not saying that it's wrong, I just think that the context of the word is being misplaced.

I'd propose "visiting" "exploring" "vacationing" or even "touring" as suitable alternatives.
