TLDR: My boyfriend and I went on a 10-day cruise with his mom and stepdad. My boyfriend’s mom secretly paid for our cabin and I found out by accident. She paid for the cabin so that we could have the cabin with the balcony so we could enjoy the view and the freedom to walk on and off as we pleased, as she didn’t want us to be stuck in an inside cabin and miss out on the view. I’m not really sure how to feel. My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years and we are planning on moving in together in October. It’s a 10-day Mediterranean cruise and we are having an amazing time. I have a single savings account that I use for my finances, and my boyfriend has his own savings account for his finances. I have been paying for everything since we got together (and even before we got together). I have been paying for all of our dinners, movie nights, outings with friends, trips to the store, etc. It never bothered me because we were dating and I didn’t think it was a problem. I just assumed that we were taking turns paying for stuff and that I was just paying more than him. I never asked for reimbursement or anything. I didn’t know that it was a problem until now. We are on the cruise with his mom and stepdad. It’s their 30th wedding anniversary and they invited us along. They paid for their own cabins. My boyfriend paid for his own cabin, but he asked his mom to pay for ours. He told his mom that she should pay for our cabin instead of his because she wanted to help support us since we are planning on moving in together.
