I'm a hotel manager, I work for an upscale brand and we regularly clean guest’s phone’s and laptops.

Quick story to start:

A guest left for the day to do some site seeing, getting back to the hotel very drunk. I’m not sure how long they had been gone but the smell of piss was everywhere. The guest had hung their phone on the bed post, and when I went to pick it up to put it in the room tray the screen exploded, purple liquid absolutely everywhere. I grabbed some coton balls and wiped down the screen and all buttons, my manager just happened to walk in and said “oh yeah we should probably clean any surfaces the guests come into contact with that can’t be disinfected”. I’m like what about the screen…. He just waved his hand and walked off.

End story, this has happened to me numerous times and I’m getting a bit confused as to why my own manager is not taking proper care of the guests. Yes I understand it can’t be disinfected but I don’t see the point of not wiping down the phone and computer if we are going to be charging hundreds of dollars a night.

Any other hotel managers see this differently?

TLDR: I work for an upscale brand and regularly clean guests devices, but my own manager doesn’t do the same
