I (female, 18 years old, 173 cm tall, 65 kg, 28 inches chest) just got back from a vacation with my dad. We bought our flights (about 3 hours long) 3 days in advance, and I was denied boarding. We went to the gate 1.5 hours before our scheduled departure time. The flight was supposed to be full.

There were 2 ladies at the gate that were checking people’s weight. There were two people that were “overweight” (both male) and one person that was underweight (a little kid).

The ladies asked me to step on the scale. I was 59 kg (130 lbs). They told me that my weight limit was 63 kg (139 lbs). We asked what happened for the change, and they said they changed the limit, but didn’t say why. They told us to go to the counter, and after a while we got directed to the manager who told us that the aircraft changed from the usual one they had and they couldn’t do anything about it. They put me and my dad (who was already checked in) on the next available flight that was about 4 hours later. I was furious. First, I was overweight in the previous flight, and now I’m underweight for the new one. It also meant that I had no luggage with me for the next 4 hours. Luckily my dad had his backpack with water, snacks and change of clothes.

I ended up getting really stressed about it, and I have been crying on and off the entire trip. I feel like it’s not right to deny me boarding and change my entire travel plans without warning me when I bought the ticket. I don’t even know if there was a legal reason for it.
