For those who hate lineups at the Tsukiji market, or have no time to visit the outer market to eat delicious sushi at places like Sushi Dai, Sushi Daiwa, Sushi Bar Mouguy, Sushi Saito, or Uogashi Nihon-Ichi, you have a second option to get some sushi at Tsukiji Tetsu, located about 5 minutes from the Tsukiji Shijo subway station. It's the cheapest sushi you can get in all of Tokyo and it's a hell of a lot better than the food you get at McDonald's or KFC.

Tsukiji Tetsu is an informal restaurant. You eat standing up at a counter. You can order a 30 piece course for 2000 YEN, which is the cheapest sushi in all of Tokyo. You also order a drink. The beer is 400 YEN and the sake is 500 YEN. You get about 30 pieces of sushi in a course, so if you order a beer and a sake you will get 30 pieces of sushi + a beer + a sake = 2800 YEN, or 2800 YEN / 30 pieces of sushi = 93 YEN per piece of sushi, which is the cheapest high quality sushi you can get in all of Tokyo.

I was also impressed by the variety of sushi you get. They have the classic maki rolls and nigiri. You also get some interesting things like mackerel and the infamous bluefin tuna.

The sushi at Tsukiji Tetsu is high quality and tastes very good. You can tell that the chef cuts the fish in the kitchen. The sushi at places like Sushi Saito, Sushi Dai, and Uogashi Nihon-Ichi is flown in by plane every morning from all around the world.

Overall, if you are looking for some cheap and good sushi in Tokyo, I would recommend Tsukiji Tetsu. If you don't like it there's always Sushi Sushi, which is only 500 YEN per 5 pieces of sushi. That place has been around since 1927 and has a lot of variety.
