I have travelled to over 100 countries and I have a warning for you Americans

Since the terrorist attacks in Paris last week (and especially since theCharlieHebdo attack last Wednesday), I have received hundreds of concerned messages from friends, friends of friends, etc. <br>Most of them have never left the United States and for some of them, they have never left the state. <br><br>Never have I been the receive so many messages asking if I am safe in France, if I have left the country (I am still in Paris and I am not changing my plans), if something might happen to me etc. <br><br>While I understand that you are in chaos here, I want to let you know what you are promoting/encouraging. <br><br>I am a front line witness of what you are encouraging. The French are struggling to contain a sense of panic and anxiety that has been encouraged by the American media and everyday people. <br><br>I was in Paris during the Charlie Hedbo attack (last wednesday) and I was at the Bataclan just after the terrorist attacks that occurred this November 13th. <br><br>I saw the French government use theCharlieHebdo attack to push an extremely nationalist agenda and the November 13th attacks for war militarization. <br><br>The French president was in an independent mayoralty in the north of France and hours after the CharlieHebdo attack he was giving speeches calling for a "strong France". He also did the same this morning. <br><br>This is all being echoed by the media. <br><br>The front page of the New York Daily News today (since yesterday) is spreading nationalism like it has never been spread before. This image IS NOT representative of the American spirit. This is NOT prototype of freedom and democracy. <br><br>This image is the opposite. This image is what a fascist state looks like. This image is what authoritarians promote. This image is what a police state promotes. <br><br>The American media is promoting a sense of French exceptionalism (like American exceptionalism) rather than urging people to peace, love and understanding. <br><br>The American media is not calling for an end to violence, rather they are calling for violence, retaliation, hate and anger. <br><br>Instead of urging the French government to contain the panic, rather than urging the French government to contain its nationalism and militarization, rather than urging the French government to contain its paranoia and to respect human rights, the American media is calling for the French government to do the opposite and to continue to spread fear and paranoia. <br><br>The French government is inciting a climate of hate against Muslims, against immigrants, against asylum seekers. <br><br>The American media is inciting a climate of hate against Muslims, against immigrants, against asylum seekers. <br><br>The French are being incited to attack a mosque in Lyon instead of being incited to peace, understanding and coexistence. <br><br>Americans are being incited to attack a mosque in the United States instead of being incited to peace, understanding and coexistence. <br><br>The French are being incited to show their ID in front of police without any justification. <br><br>This is happening in schools, this is happening at train stations, this is happening on planes. <br><br>This is happening all over the place. <br><br>The French are being incited to bomb Syria, to bomb Iraq, to bomb Libya because they hate us, they hate our democracy, they hate our freedom, they hate our way of life, they hate our women wearing shorts. <br><br>This is not representing the American way of life. This is not representing American freedom and democracy. This is not representing American women in shorts. These people and the media who are promoting these things are not Americans. They are not Christians, they are not Jews, they are not Muslims. They are fascist, they are authoritarians, they are extremists. <br><br>These people and the media do not have your best interests at heart. They do not represent you, they are not on your side, they don't give a shit about you. They are just self serving narcissistic sociopaths who want to incite hate, violence and war. <br><br>These people and the media have been doing this for years. <br><br>They have been doing it in the United States since the 9/11 attacks. <br><br>They have been doing this since the 3rd March 2015 (the day Charles Manson died because some people have nothing better to do than to look for modern day versions of him). <br><br>They have been doing it for years in the United Kingdom. <br><br>They have been doing this since 9/11 in the US and 7/7 in the UK because they know that terrorism is something which will never go away. They know that they can use it as an excuse to incite fear and hatred, to incite violence and war. <br><br>They will use it as an excuse for perpetual war, for perpetual fear. They don't want you to be peaceful, they don't want you to be understanding, they don't want you to be accepting, they don't want you to accept that we are all human beings. They want you to think we are so different, that we are so separate. They want you to think we are enemies, that we will never be friends. <br><br>They don't want you to be open minded, they don't want you to be tolerant, they don't want you to be accepting. They want you to close your mind, they want you to close your heart. They want you to be hateful, they want you to be angry, they want you to be aggressive. They want you to want revenge. They want you to be vengeful. They want you to want blood. <br><br>They want you to think that killing people, killing babies, killing women, killing children will make you safer, will make you happy, will make you fulfilled. It will not. Killing is killing whether it is a Muslim, a Jew, a Christian, an atheist. <br><br>You were not given freedom rights, humnan rights, liberty just to take it away from others. You were not given the right to live in safety just to take it away from others. <br><br>You were given the right to live, to exist, to be. <br><br>This is not a war against Islam. <br><br>This is not a war against Syria, against Iraq, against Libya, against France. <br><br>This is not a war against terrorists. <br><br>This is a war against humanity. <br><br>This is a war against peace. <br><br>This is a war against love. <br><br>This is a war against understanding. <br><br>This is a war against tolerance. <br><br>This is a war against acceptance. <br><br>This is a war against humanity. <br><br>We are all human beings. <br><br>We are all the same. <br><br>We all have the same rights. <br><br>We all have the same duties. <br><br>We all have the same responsabilities. <br><br>We all have the same worth. <br><br>We all have the same value. <br><br>We are all worthy of love and respect. <br><br>We are all worthy of peace, understanding and tolerance. <br><br>Instead of being angry, be peaceful. Instead of being hateful, be loving. Instead of being aggressive, be gentle.
